It's A Lonely Journey.

A little over a year ago, I remember when I first sat-down with Glenn Kelman, Redfin CEO. He was sharing how he felt during his mid-twenties, "My girlfriend dumped me, I didn't have any money - I remember going to the bank and not being able to take out any money because you can't take out $14 with an ATM card - I was just lonely and sad."

I also remember John Lauer, Zipwhip CEO & Co-Founder, telling me, "Whatever you decide to do Ash, if you decide on building something from scratch, just know it's a long and lonely journey. You have to be okay with that."

Everyday I wake up, I ask myself: "Am I doing the right things? Even though our team has grown to almost two-dozen people, why do I still feel so alone?"

The struggle isn't anything external; the struggle is inside of us.

The best of us understand how to manage our emotional highs and lows.

As Kabir Shahani, Amperity CEO once told me, "Don't let the highs get too high, and the lows get too low."

If you know me, then you know how sensitive I am to emotions. I often let the highs get too high and the lows get too low.

I'm not afraid to say, controlling my inner struggles of feeling lonely is a work in progress.

If you have any routine advice for how I can strengthen my emotional "balance," please reach out so we can connect.

I wish you the best fourth quarter of 2020; a year that has been a struggle for all of us.

Warmest Regards,
